The officer was “on-loan” to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force at the time of the incident, according to information released Sunday by Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. As a result, the state Division of Criminal Justice’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability directed Hudson County to handle the shooting investigation to avoid any conflict of interest, according to the announcement.
The prosecutor’s office released no details about the shooting incident itself, but said the officer was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, then released.
