signed a one-year, $30 million deal to set a record for an arbitration-eligible player, but he’ll become a free agent after this season. It remains to be seen what effectopting to retain ownership will have on Ohtani’s upcoming decision, but the Angels have not been to the postseason since 2014 despite having two generational talents on the roster in Ohtani and OFsigned a seven-year, $245 million deal before the 2020 season.
