It also can spread through intimate contact, such as kissing or touching parts of the body that have infectious scabs, he said.“This disease is not like COVID-19, which is we know can be spread easily from person to person through the air,” he said..
Public health officials nationwide and worldwide are trying to isolate cases to contain and limit the spread of monkeypox, he said. “We’ll have to wait and see about how that effort proceeds,” Vanderhoff said. Anyone who is has an unexplained rash, including lesions on any part of the body, should contact their physician.
