Nearly two weeks after a 120-ton luxury yacht grounded near a marine sanctuary in Hawaii, it was pulled off the shore rocks Sunday afternoon. Then, during recovery operations Monday, the yacht sank in Maui’s waters.

“There was no way to avoid some roof damage and the scar left from the extraction,” he said. “I think that we need to be left with a scar so that we don't feel so comfortable that we forget to do something about this to keep it from happening again.” “I think that it’s a small island and the country officials were not prepared for something like this to ever happen,” Tiri said. “We didn’t have the tools and help we needed to be able to get that yacht out of there in a timely manner.”
