Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's rep responded to criticism of the couple's new Netflix docuseries, claiming they 'never cited privacy' when they stepped away from royal roles.

"This distorted narrative was intended to trap the couple into silence. In fact, their statement announcing their decision to step back mentions nothing of privacy and reiterates their desire to continue their roles and public duties. Any suggestion otherwise speaks to a key point of this series. Harry and Meghan's statement comes a day after the first three episodes of the two-part docuseries were released on Netflix. Volume II is set to drop Dec. 15.
They are parents to 3-year-old son Archie and daughter Lilibet, 1, who was born in June 2021 after their move to the United States., the Sussexes added that they planned to continue working with the queen as well as Harry's brother Prince William, 40, and father King Charles III, 74, who was formerly the Prince of Wales before ascending to the throne following Elizabeth II's death in September.
The first episode of"Harry and Meghan" began with a note stating that members of the royal family"declined to comment" on the content in the series. The royal family has yet to speak out following the release of the first three episodes.
