'He's being looked after very well in hospital,' Prince Charles said about his father, Prince Philip. 'At the moment, that's all we know.'

Speaking to reporters Monday as he met with first responders in the flood-ridden village of Fishlake in Yorkshire, England, Prince Charles confirmed his father has not yet been discharged.

Buckingham Palace stated Philip checked into a London hospital Friday for"observation and treatment."Daily MailIn the Duke of Edinburgh's absence, the royal family is carrying on with the holiday season as usual.

The Queen also attended church Sunday near her country estate in Norfolk, where the royals will spend Christmas. The family is expected to attend another service on Christmas morning – it is not clear if Philip will be released in time to join them."The Duke of Edinburgh from Norfolk this morning to the King Edward VII Hospital in London for observation and treatment in relation to a pre-existing condition," Buckingham Palace said in a statement Friday.

The duke's hospitalization was planned, and he is expected to stay in hospital for a few days, a person familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly said. He did not travel by ambulance. The London hospital is hours away from Norfolk. It was not immediately clear why that hospital was chosen for treatment, and the palace declined to issue further details.
