Texas Rangers are leading the investigation with the assistance of the Rains County and Hunt County sheriff’s offices. “The investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing,” a news release said. “No other information is available at the time of this release.”in western Rains County on Wednesday, KETR public radio station reported.

Details such as the exact location the remains were found and what, if any, open cases the remains may be tied to were not immediately available Thursday morning. Texas Rangers are under the state’s Department of Public Safety and typically investigate major violent crime, public corruption, cold cases, and officer-involved shootings..
