We must have walked right by this hundreds of times

The timeless buzz of show nights bounce around the historic walls of a humble little theatre in Preston.

Marion Yardley, a volunteer, hosts regular heritage walks throughout the theatre. She told LancsLive the rich history of the structure dates as far back as 1847. In 1924, the Friends of the Quakers sold the building to another religious group, the Knights of Saint Columba. And the Roman Catholic organisation opened up the building as a dancehall.

"This was big enough to be kept as a records office and they had it for the five to six years of World War Two." "People would come, they'd be down here, you know, building sets, maintaining the building and such like, so it has a little community of its own, I feel that that kept the place going for a larger community, and it became a centre of entertainment. Today, what we do hasn't changed, how we do it might have."
