Preston North End footballer in court on assault and stalking charges as club director Peter Ridsdale watches from public gallery
Preston North End forward Finlay Cross-Adair has appeared in court charged with a series of offences as club director Peter Ridsdale sat in the public gallery to support the young player.
Cross-Adair, who signed his first professional contract with the club in December last year, appeared in court from custody having been arrested on suspicion of seven counts of assault, stalking and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in a family relationship. The dates of the offence range from January to June of this year with the stalking alleged to have taken place between May and June and the coercive behaviour said to have been between January and June.
Sat in the public gallery to support the 18-year-old professional was PNE director Peter Ridsdale. Although bail was opposed by prosecutor Antonia Walters, Cross-Adair's solicitor Mitch Sarangi put forward a series of bail conditions put forward by and with the support of PNE bosses.Cross-Adair, who is a boyhood supporter of PNE, has been training with the senior side since September last year.
Magistrates granted Cross-Adair bail with conditions including not to enter Longridge, to reside at his grandparent's address in Waingate, Grimsargh, not to contact the victim or any witnesses and to attend club training six days a week. Cross-Adair will next appear at Preston Crown Court on June 30 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
