Pres. Trump walks back payroll tax cut suggestion, says he's 'not looking at a tax cut now. We don't need it. We've got a strong economy.'
President Donald Trump is walking back his comments on implementing a payroll tax cut after stating that it's something he's been"thinking about" as a way to save the U.S. economy, which he described as doing"phenomenally well" from falling into a recession.
The president said yesterday that he's considered a payroll tax cut but denied any link to recession fears. https://t.co/Yf1MNDjF7l pic.twitter.com/fCpLm0syXU In saying so, the president contradicted his own aides who had pushed back on the notion that a payroll tax cut was under consideration.
