Jefferson Water lifted a precautionary boil water advisory Sunday after lab tests found no contaminants from a water main break Friday.
terminated the precautionary boil water advisory on Sunday that had been issued for all customers east of Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road in Jefferson Township after laboratory testing confirmed no contaminants present in the water supply.
The advisory was put in place for utility customers after a contractor working in the area of Reynoldsburg-New Albany and Havens Road struck a 12-inch water main in eastern Franklin County. Jefferson Water initially reported an outage around 12:45 p.m. Friday and began drawing emergency water supply from Southwest Licking Community Water and Sewer District before discovering the break.
Repairs were completed by about 6 p.m. Friday, but Jefferson Water kept the precautionary boil water advisory in place until laboratory results were back. Jefferson Water draws its source water from wells adjacent to the treatment plant site on Taylor Road and a wellfield on Wengert Road. Although the water meets Ohio Environmental Protection Agency standards, the water is notoriously hard and customers generally need to install water softeners to avoid damage to appliances and lines.
