Dauphin County judge race will get settled in November after candidates split party nominations on Tuesday's primary.

LaTasha Williams and Courtney Powell will take their battle over a vacant Dauphin County Court judge seat to the general election after both won party nominations on Tuesday.LaTasha C. Williams and Courtney Powell will face-off this fall for the vacant Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas judge seat, according to unofficial primary results from Tuesday.

However, the cross-filed Powell won the uncontested Republican primary with 16,514 votes to seize the GOP nomination and end the night with more than 24,000 total votes, nearly double Williams’ haul.Williams, 41, founded the Williams Law Group, focusing on criminal law, post-conviction litigation and family law. She has also worked as a prosecutor in York and Franklin counties since earning a law degree from Widener University School of Law in 2019.

Williams added that “the role of the judge is to ensure accountability by listening critically to the facts, applying our rules of law as they are written, and administering even-handed justice.” She told PennLive for an election preview that her experience in family law would be vital on the bench.
