We chat with Poppy Liu about DeadRingers, PrimeVideo's new limited series based on the David Cronenberg cult classic, and what drives her character Greta:
Prime Video's Dead Ringers is a re-imagining of a cult classic David Cronenberg film from 1988 that follows twin gynecologists who push ethical boundaries in their personal and professional lives. The show keeps much of that framework, but tags in Rachel Weisz for the dual lead roles, gender-flipping the Mantle twins. This time around, Elliot and Beverly Mantle are working on opening a fertility clinic that will give them more freedom over their work.

Poppy Liu: I think her feelings about the Mantle twins are saturated with so many mommy issues in every direction. I think she feels very protective of the Mantle twins and [she] runs there. She runs their life and there is a degree of power in that even though she's sort of the house manager. I think she longs to be mothered by them. I think she feels jealous of their relationship with each other.
