The issue has been described as a 'menace to society'
Leicestershire police has said it will continue to patrol areas in Castle Donington following reports of car cruising near viewing points at East Midlands Airport. It comes as plane spotters took to social media to warn others of "cars revving and wheel spinning" and "loud drill music" playing at the popular spots near The Nags Head pub as well as near the Amazon base.
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of ongoing reports in relation to large gatherings of motorists in parts of the Castle Donnington area, a minority of which have been intent on using the local roads to cause anti-social behaviour. Targeted operations have been carried out in response to these reports, and local officers, supported by specialist roads policing resources, are currently carrying out dedicated extra patrols.
Councillor Michael Wyatt, North West Leicestershire District Council Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “Drivers racing on public roads are a menace to society, they’re a danger to other road users and cause distress to residents. We are working with the community in Castle Donington, and the police, to bring it to a stop, but this is a national problem.
