Police issue warning as children as young as 11 seen throwing things at passing cars from old railway bridge
Police have issued a warning after children as young as 11 were seen throwing things at passing cars from an old railway bridge.
Cars have reportedly been left damaged over the past few days after objects were hurled at them from bridges over Liverpool Road in Cadishead. Officers, who are regularly patrolling the area, have identified three children aged 12 and another aged just 11 as being responsible for the spate of attacks on the disused railway line and have asked for the area to be secured by Network Rail.In a post, Greater Manchester Police said: "We're aware that numerous vehicles have been damaged over the past few days by objects, being thrown from bridges, onto passing vehicles below, predominately on Liverpool Road, Cadishead.
"The disused railway is an incredibly difficult area to police however, we have identified three 12 year olds and an 11 year old as being responsible. They will be dealt with appropriately. We have also again asked the line to be secured by Network Rail, which the Police and Council have requested on numerous occasions.
"Please continue to report anti-social behaviour. Although your reports may initially appear to have no lines of enquiry, your local team will do their utmost to identify those responsible."Read more of today's top stories here
