The man was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct in Toms River.
A man swinging a machete at passing motorists in Toms River was tackled by a police officer and taken into custody after retreating into the woods when police arrived, authorities said Thursday.
A Toms River patrol sergeant “pulled over when he observed an agitated man with what appeared to be a large knife yelling at passing motorists near the intersection,” Little said in a statement. “He was getting increasingly agitated and combative, and refusing the officers commands to drop the large machete he was swinging at officers,” Little said.
