Police are treating the fire as arson
A double decker bus was set on fire during an arson attack in Leeds over the weekend, according to police.
At aound 8.57pm on Saturday, May 13, West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene in Bodmin Road, Middleton. Passengers on the bus were evacuated by the driver. Thankfully no one was injured. WYP say they believe the fire was deliberate and the incident is being treated as an arson attack. An eyewitness said: "I saw a bus on fire in Bodmins, Middleton, at around 8.30pm/9pm. Double decker set on fire, lost top [of bus] due to fire."Pictures show firefighters attending the scene, and the whole of the top deck of the bus burnt to ash. Confirming the details of what happened, a spokesperson for WYP said: " At 8.
"The driver had safely evacuated the passengers, and no-one was injured. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and the incident is being treated as arson. "Detectives from Leeds District CID are continuing to carry out enquiries into the incident." Leeds Live has contacted West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for a statement.
