About 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to 5300 SR 37 near its intersection with West Epler Avenue and found Charles Smith, 50, lying in the roadway.Investigators are seeking tips in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact crime stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
The death is the latest in a year that has seen fatal crashes involving pedestrians soar. By Aug. 1 the city had surpassed all of 2021 in number of fatal pedestrian crashes.
