BREAKING: Police kill gunman after mass shooting at Texas mall complex leaves 'multiple' dead
Authorities with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday afternoon that at least one gunman is believed to have opened fire at Allen Premium Outlets on Saturday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. local time. The city of Allen, located about 25 miles north of Dallas, Texas, tweeted that residents should avoid the area as authorities handle the situation.That gunman was killed by responding officers on the scene, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office said late Saturday afternoon.
Dashcam footage from a nearby vehicle showed the suspect exiting their own car wearing body armor before opening fire on unassuming shoppers nearby. Cars could be seen dashing away as the suspect continued shooting in multiple directions. Video began circulating on social media Saturday afternoon of locals running away after hearing shots in the parking lot of the outdoor shopping facility.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER The Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' Dallas bureau called the situation an"active shooter incident" in a tweet at 4:30 p.m. local time. Authorities confirmed the gunman had been killed shortly after 6 p.m. local time.
