Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old Crete man, along with the wounding of his mother and family dog.

Police said they responded at 7:15 p.m. Thursday to a report of someone shot in the 3100 block of Halsted Street. Anthony Perez-Fox, who lived in the home, was pronounced dead at the scene, and his 45-year-old mother was also shot and treated and released from a hospital, police said. Perez-Fox had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with his death ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.Steger police said their investigators are being assisted by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, and ask anyone with information to call 708-755-0223.
