Ribble Valley police investigate as sheep found with its throat savagely ripped out
Police are wanting to speak to two women in connection with a sheep-worrying incident that happens on Sunday .
A dead sheep was found with its throat ripped out around the quarry area on Clerk Hill Road, Sabden near Whalley Golf Club. . The ladies are described as being aged in their 20s walking dogs described as dark or tan colour Bulldog type dogs. It is believed the women were then seen again in Winswell, with one getting into a red car with the dogs.A spokesperson for the police said: "In this past week we have seen a sharp rise is dog attacks on sheep.
"We have had to deal with a lot of otherwise law abiding people in the past after their dog has committed attacks on livestock and at times are left with no option but to prosecute these owners due to the seriousness of the attack leaving them with a criminal record.
"If you are walking a dog in and around agricultural land please just take a minute to consider what livestock may be around and if in any doubt at all put your dog on a lead."
