A 50-year-old Gary man was arrested Saturday for allegedly shooting another Gary man. Gary officers at around 7:56 a.m. were sent to the 1800 block of West 5th Avenue and found people gathered in an apartment building doorway surrounding a gunshot victim Gary Police spokesman Cmdr. Sam Roberts said in a release Saturday evening. The victim, a 32-year-old, told them he’d been taking out the trash when “he heard several gun and realized that he’d been shot.
” Witnesses at the scene told officers a silver car with no back window may have been involved, Roberts said. An officer a short time later saw a shot-up, silver Hyundai with its rear driver side window either down or shot out, Roberts said, so the officer embarked on a low-speed chase in an alley in the 200 block of Cleveland Street. The officer then arrested the driver and had the Hyundai towed, Roberts said. Sgt.
