Heartfelt tributes have poured in after a Nottinghamshire Police officer died after being hit by a train while trying to save a man on the tracks. Sergeant Graham Saville was hit by a train as he attempted to save a distressed man in Balderton at around 7pm on Thursday, August 24.
Keir Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party, said: “My thoughts this evening are with the loved ones of Sergeant Graham Saville, who today tragically died in the line of duty. His bravery, selflessness and dedication to public service will be remembered.” Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue also shared tribute to the officer: “This is absolutely tragic news and our hearts go out to Graham’s family. Thoughts also with our @nottspolice colleagues and wider 999 family…”
Labour MP Sarah Jones shared: “Devastating. We know the sacrifices that our police officers make every day. And we are so grateful. RIP.”
