Plans to create an electric vehicle (EV) charging zone at an Elderslie service station have been approved by Renfrewshire Council.
PLANS to create an electric vehicle charging zone at an Elderslie service station have been approved by RenfrewshireMotor Fuel Group has been given permission to introduce six charge points, a canopy and substation at the facility in the village’s Main Road.
Two conditions have been attached to the works which focus on restricting noise from the machinery and making sure a pedestrian walkway is in place before the hub is operational. A report on the decision said: “The charging hub would be located within the grounds of a filling station so would reflect the form and use of the existing site.“The proposal would not result in a substantial increase in vehicle traffic and an additional pedestrian walkway has been provided within the grounds of the site to improve pedestrian connectivity.
“Consequently, the development would not have a negative impact on the residential properties to the south.”consultancy firm acting on Motor Fuel Group’s behalf, said the plans would “contribute positively” to the existing EV charging network and “enhance” the offer at the service station. In a covering letter, Rahma Dwimunali, assistant planner, added: “In terms of design, the proposed EV charging area has been carefully planned to positively integrate with the existing service station operation.“The proposals will be Equalities Act compliant, offering dropped kerbs and other associated measures to ensure equal ease of access for all.”
