Neighbours in a 'nice little town' have welcomed plans to convert a former gym into new homes. Proposals have been put forward to create a house in multiple occupation and three flats at the former Intrim Health Studios in Long Eaton.
However, those plans were withdrawn on May 3 and new plans were resubmitted on May 17. “There’s a lot of people that need a place to live, I think it would be a good idea,” said Darren Shackleton.The 50-year-old continued: “The problem is people have nowhere to live. Family wise it’s a nice little town that has everything you need. Cafes, shops, Asda, Tescos, banks and all that, and an Aldi is being built. It’s a nice little town.
“There’s too much competition now I think. There are quite a lot of gyms in the area, there’s the new one at Chilwell Retail Park as well.
