New story details for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes reveal how Caesar's legacy will live on in the upcoming sequel. Andy Serkis' Caesar was first introduced in 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes and would appear in two direct sequels, with the actor eventually saying farewell to the role with Matt Reeves' 2017 trilogy-capper. The franchise is set to continue with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which is slated to release in 2024.
