An application to tear down the brick buildings, which sit in a conservation area, behind Broomhill Terrace and Broomhill Avenue and develop the new block of flats in its place has been submitted to the council’s planning department. The site in the West End is currently occupied by a number of disused, single storey red brick storage buildings which are in a poor state of repair. The buildings have not been used for many years and are currently not secure which has resulted in illegal dumping from time to time.
As part of their proposals, developers are hoping to retain the existing brick boundary walls to prevent their further deterioration.says: “The existing storage buildings are of little value and could be considered by some local residents as a bit of an eyesore. “The proposed flats should compliment the area and improve the local amenity. As the proposed building is low rise, they will not conceal any features of the surrounding tenements. Access to the existing rear gardens will not be affected by this proposal.”Readers’ comments: You are personally liable for the content of any comments you upload to this website, so please act responsibly.
