Joel Piroe made his debut for Leeds United last weekend against Ipswich Town
Joel Piroe believes his Championship experience can be pivotal this season as he settles into life at Leeds United. The striker completed his switch from Swansea City last week and stepped straight into Daniel Farke’s starting line-up to take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
“I want to help with a little bit of leadership. The guys are very young, some have a lot of Premier League experience but I do think the Championship will be a little bit different for them." Piroe scored 41 goals in two seasons at Swansea as a number nine and as such, it came as something of a surprise to see him deployed behind Rutter, who also scored his first goal for Leeds at Ipswich. However, the 24-year-old insists he is comfortable in such a role and he sees the potential for a great partnership with the Frenchman.
“I’m really excited to play in front of them,” he said. “Of course we want to get the streak going now and win more games but I’m really looking forward to it and I’ve heard a lot about it. I expect a great atmosphere."
