In an enlightening conversation, Neuman reveals they hadn’t tried the sauce when they sealed the deal. Chef Pii says she is working on a Pink Sauce cookbook. And Neuman and Chef Pii both are confident that the sauce is going to be a hit—a household name for years to come, even. Says Chef Pii: “Pink Sauce is here to stay.”DN: Well, we discovered her, our leadership team. We watch the internet, we are always looking for ideas, as part of our curiosity.
I remember, Madonna used to say she would go incognito to clubs and hear what music is playing so she could go back and make music that people want to dance to. So that's kind of what we did. We found her because there was a lot of noise about the Pink Sauce, and we make sauce. So we said, “We know we can make it.” Now, can we get her to agree to let us make it for her? That's what we had to do.
How do you know that the way it has blown up on TikTok will predict its success on a larger scale commercial market? I am a private chef, and making shelf stable products is not my expertise. But I am really, really good at balancing flavors and exciting people's taste buds. That is my passion. That is what I deliver as a chef, and with me and Dave’s Gourmet coming together in a partnership, the future is amazing.
