Screen Rant is thrilled to share the trailer for Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game, which is releasing in theaters on March 17 with distribution from Vertical. Based on a remarkable true story, Pinball stars West Side Story fan-favorite Mike Faist and Teen Wolf heroine Crystal Reed. Filmmaking duo Meredith and Austin Bragg wrote and directed the film, which serves as their feature-length directorial debut.
Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game takes place in 1975 and follows GQ journalist Roger Sharpe , whose passion and talent for pinball helped end New York City’s 35-year ban on the beloved arcade game. Reed, meanwhile, portrays Ellen, the woman he falls in love with as he masters the art of the pinball machine.
While it may seem humorous to think about in retrospect, the pinball bad had serious consequences for players. For someone like Roger, who did not find many other joys in life, it would have been particularly devastating for his favorite hobby to have been ripped away from him. As for Ellen, it will be interesting to see how the Braggs' screenplay tackles the reality of being a single mother in the '70s.
Prior to Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game, Vertical kicked off the year with the Ashley Benson-led thriller, Alone at Night. They also released the romantic comedy Maybe I Do and the vampiric Blood in January, with the pandemic comedy Who Invited Charlie? also arriving earlier this month.Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game will arrive in theaters on March 17.
