Xbox boss Phil Spencer discussed how the team"wanted to make sure we had a great show" with Xbox Games Showcase 2023, and how he feels they"didn't hit" the bar set by customer expectation in 2022.2023 brought us a whole wave of announcements, and Spencer says the Xbox team"knew the flow coming out of both Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios was gonna hit."

Speaking of the Xbox Games Showcase for 2023, Spencer adds,"I knew that our first party was gonna be strong. We have over 20 studios, and it was somewhat expected that they would get up to speed after Covid and get their product coming out. We knew the flow coming out of both Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios was gonna hit.
Spencer also commented on Starfield, which had its own focused deep-dive right after Xbox Games Showcase 2023 , saying,"making the best Starfield is absolutely our goal. I want to build the absolute best games we can.” He also discusses how far Xbox has come, saying,"Our business right now, from a revenue standpoint, is about twice the size as it was in the Xbox 360 generation. And we’re millions of consoles ahead of where we would’ve been compared to 360. We’ve never had more Xbox players than we have right now.” Later, he comments on the fact that Halo wasn't featured during the show."I wouldn’t say Halo is of lesser importance, but we have over 20 studios now.
