With a new bonus episode of Netflix's irresistible docuserieson tap for this weekend, what better way is there to tune up than with a remix-ready dance-rock jam from Phem andThe low-key track bubbles along with Phem's fuzzed-out guitar strum and a thick beat from Wonderland, all while paying homage to Carole Baskin, the Big Cat Rescue co-founder who was the subject of an alleged murder-for-hire plot hatched by rival cat lover Joe Exotic.
"Sick of wasting time with you/ Sick of being stuck in this room/ Our love is just a bad mood/ F--k it, I got nothing left to lose/ But what would Carole Baskin do?/ She would probably murder you/ What would Carole Baskin do?/ Feed you to the tigers," Phem sings in a drowsy vocal. Near the end of the 90-second track, she laments,"What would Carole Baskin do?/ Feed you to the tigers but I can't because this virus got me paralyzed" as cartoon images of COVID-19 float across the screen.," Phem said in a statement."Everyday, I was searching the hashtag on Twitter to see what other people thought and how they were reacting to Carole and the mysterious death of her husband.
She said the resulting demo was"short and concise," but needed some extra production. Already going back and forth with Wonderland over the past few months about a possible collaboration, she sent it to the producer, who loved the idea."Within a day’s time, she sent it back and made it sound so good I almost started crying," Phem said."Literally, we made this s--t in two days. I didn’t want to be precious about it. It feels like no rules apply right now.
