Pervert sexually assaulted woman as she slept on his sofa after she told him they were 'just friends'
A man sexually assaulted a woman as she slept on the sofa at his house after she told him they were just friends.
The woman went back to sleep but woke to find her underwear had been moved and Holmes sexually assaulting her for a second time. She asked him what he was doing and he told her had 'misread the signals' after drinking and taking cocaine, the court heard. Police went to Blackpool Victoria Hospital to speak to Holmes, who had been admitted after a suicide attempt. He was arrested on suspicion of rape but later pleaded guilty to sexual assault, which was accepted by the prosecution.
Recorder Imran Shafi KC, sentencing, said: "It is clear that as far as the complainant was concerned your relationship was platonic and simply a friendship. She cherished it but clearly was not interested in anything more than a friendship.
