Manchester City have spent the day refocusing after suffering their first defeat since the Community Shield at the beginning of August, on Wednesday night.
The defeat sees City exit the competition at their first hurdle but have an immediate opportunity put the result right on Saturday when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. Haaland was rested at St James' Park, along with captains Kyle Walker and Ruben Dias, and remained on the bench despite Newcastle's lead from the 51st minute. Julian Alvarez struggled to continue his early season form playing upfront on his own, and was substituted in the second half for Phil Foden.
