PSU linebacker Abdul Carter was a second-team All-Big Ten choice as a true freshman last season.
According to the report, university police responded to a fire alarm activation at the Nittany Apartments on Aug. 8. When the police arrived, it was determined the alarm was triggered by Carter smoking marijuana in his dorm room. The report also stated Carter was charged Tuesday with a misdemeanor.“As you know, we don’t talk about those things publicly,” Penn State coach James Franklin said when asked about Carter’s status after the Lions’ practice on Wednesday.
“Obviously, it’s being handled and dealt with internally. This is new to you guys, it’s not new to us.” Carter, a sophomore linebacker, was named second-team All-Big Ten last season after finishing second on Penn State in tackles with 56 and adding 10.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 of them sacks. The 6-3, 249-pound Carter played in the Lions’ season-opening 38-15 victory over West Virginia last Saturday night at Beaver Stadium, finishing with a sack and a quarterback hurry. If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
