BREAKING: Speaker Pelosi: 'I'm announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry.'
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who for months resisted efforts to launch impeachment proceedings against, will announce a formal inquiry on Tuesday, according to two Democratic sources close to her.
Pelosi, D-Calif., is expected to announce the development after a closed-door meeting of the Democratic caucus that began atIn that meeting, Pelosi said she will not form a select committee that would oversee an inquiry, two sources in the room told NBC News. She also said the decision to move forward with impeachment is about “national security," calling this a"moment of truth," the sources said.
Trump, for his part, told reporters that an impeachment inquiry would help him in the 2020 election but would harm the country.
