Pearland offense fuels sweep of Brazoswood in 6A baseball playoffs

“There aren’t any selfish at-bats right now,” Avalos said. “Everyone is doing their job. Our motto is ‘Get the next guy up’, and we’re definitely doing that right now.” The Oilers opened the series with an 11-3 win Friday night in Freeport before repeating its potent offensive attack Saturday. “Our offense has not really been great all year long, but our pitching has been,” Pearland head coach David Rogers said.
Pearland pitcher Smart almost went the distance, pitching 4 2/3 innings before yielding to Jaden Barfield, who faced one batter, striking out Caleb Solis in the top of the fifth.
