Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has added numerous titles to his resume over the years. This season, he’s making room for another: coach.
“There’s a side [session] where [head coach Andy Reid] lets Patrick go through, and the wide receivers see it from Patrick’s view,” quarterbacks coach Matt Nagy said. “The wideouts, they connect. And Patrick’s really good at communicating: ‘Hey, you didn’t run the right route, here’s how you should have run it.’ But he does it without hurting their feelings — a rare trait that he has.”Patrick Mahomes looks to pass during a Chiefs game in January 2022.
Mahomes has quickly garnered a reputation for his stellar decision-making and uncanny ability to make a difficult play seem routine. Now, the four-time Pro Bowler — who signed a record-setting 10-year, $450 million contract extension in the summer of 2020 — is sharing his brilliance with the roster in a new way.
