The 39-year-old was attempting to take out money from an individual’s bank account when he was caught by police.
Palo Alto police have arrested two people suspected of felony fraud after they rammed their truck into two patrol cars on Friday night. Inside the suspects’ vehicle, police found a loaded handgun, narcotics, and fraudulent identification cards — and officials later discovered the vehicle itself had also been fraudulently obtained using another individual’s identity information, according to the police department.
At around 5 p.m. on July 7, 39-year-old Emmanuel Glinton attempted to withdraw money from an account that didn’t belong to him at First Tech Federal Credit Union, located at 3000 El Camino Real. Police were alerted by an employee at the bank, and when officers arrived at the scene, Glinton reversed his vehicle and struck the front of the patrol car. He then drove over a curb and attempted to flee — ultimately reaching a dead end on the 400 block of Leland Avenue.
Though officers in the first car were uninjured, those in the second suffered a broken hand bone and abrasions to the face. Glinton and the passenger of his car, 27-year-old Kathleen Lucius, were uninjured. Glinton and Lucius were booked at the Santa Clara County Main Jail for multiple charges, including — for Glinton — two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless evading, carrying a concealed firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed, and false personation, among four other misdemeanors. Lucius is under arrest for identity theft, false personation, resisting arrest and false identification to police.
