Netflix has revealed the Painkiller release date and a batch of first look photos of the upcoming limited series.
“A fictionalized retelling of events, Painkiller is a scripted limited series that explores some of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in America, highlighting the stories of the perpetrators, victims, and truth-seekers whose lives are forever altered by the invention of OxyContin,” says the synopsis.
Painkiller is based on Barry Meier’s book Pain Killer and the New Yorker Magazine article “The Family That Built the Empire of Pain” by Patrick Radden Keefe. It is directed by Peter Berg and executive produced by Eric Newman, Peter Berg, Alex Gibney, and the Painkiller creators/showrunners/writers Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.Tyler Treese is ComingSoon and SuperHeroHype's Editor-in-Chief.
