Pervert who arranged to meet teen girl for unprotected sex fled after being confronted by paedophile hunters
A paedophile who tried to meet up with a teenage girl for unprotected sex was left fleeing when he was caught in a sting operation.
But the 31-year-old did not know that he was actually chatting with a member of a paedophile hunter group and was confronted by a man from the group when he arranged to meet her in Preston. Waite fled the scene while still trying to message the girl's account and was later arrested at a nearby garage.
He arranged to meet up with her in Preston near to a Tesco shop, with the girl supposedly coming from Chorley. Waite had said he couldn't wait to see her, that he planned to have sex without a condom and that "it wouldn't take long". In reality, he was confronted by a man from the Fleetwood Enforcers group and tried to run away.
Defending, Jimmy Vakil said Waite now accepted full responsibility for his actions and was making positive progress in prison. He said Waite had been abused by foster parents as a child and was awaiting cognitive behavioural therapy treatment and a formal diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder. Mr Vakil said that that Waite was homeless at the time having been recently attacked at knifepoint and was living in a paranoid state which he wrongly attempted to control using cannabis and cocaine.
