Robert Maverick Vargo, 26, of Berwick has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for threats made against President Biden, United States Representative Bennie Thompson, and United States District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani, according to a press release from the Department of Justice. In the letter, Vargo cited Thompson’s role as chair of the congressional committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol Complex. He also invoked the name of domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh, who bombed the federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995, killing nearly 170 people.
