MIFFLINBURG – There was a birthday party at the Union County home just hours before a toddler mysteriously disappeared from an upstairs bedroom in 1986.arrest Tuesday of Henry Gust Bush, 54, of Mifflinburg.The toddler was last seen shortly after midnight on Oct. 13, 1986, in the New Columbia home his mother, then Debbie Wise , was sharing with Alberta Sones .
Present in the home were Mowery’s 4-year-old daughter, Reynolds, and her 2-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter. Reynolds told police in 1986 she was awake while Mowery was gone and did not hear anything. Also new in the presentment is that a U.S. Middle District grand jury investigated the alleged kidnapping of Edkin but closed its probe without any indictments.
Discovered Oct. 14, 1986, in a smoldering burn barrel fire in Mowery’s back yard were torn children’s shorts, child’s pajama bottoms with cuts in the legs and a jersey, all partially burned. He acknowledged Mowery, Reynolds and he did not have their stories straight on who was where and at what time the day before Edkin disappeared.
