The discovery of that weapon marks the 36th gun seized at the airport this year, breaking the previous record of 35 guns seized that was set back in 2019.
Domonique Hickenbottom, 29, didn’t possess a concealed carry permit for the handgun and is facing charges of persons not to possess a firearm and carrying a firearm without a license, which are both felony offenses.“This proliferation of passengers toting their firearms with their carry-on items needs to stop,” Karen Keys-Turner, the TSA’s federal security director for Pittsburgh International Airport, said in a release.
“We seem to have a very disturbing number of guns being carried to our checkpoints this month,” Keys-Turner said in the statement. “Let me be very clear when I say that there is absolutely no excuse for bringing a gun to our checkpoints.”
