The Immingham-bound cargo ship Verity collided with another vessel in the North Sea near Germany last night.
A rescue mission is underway after a British cargo ship sank following a collision with another vessel in the North Sea.
A spokesperson said: "P&O Cruises' Iona is currently involved in a search-and-rescue operation off the coast of Germany. “Iona is scheduled to be at sea today and this event should have no impact upon tomorrow’s scheduled call to Rotterdam or the onward itinerary.”While the Bahamas-flagged Polesie stayed afloat, the Verity, which had departed from Bremen in Germany, became submerged.
He said: "After the collision between two ships off Heligoland, my thoughts are with the crew members and their families."They do everything they can to save the missing people."
