The brand announced its plans to use only recycled nylon by 2021 with a special collection of products.
For the new launch, Prada created a belt bag, shoulder bag, tote bag, duffle bag, and two versions of its iconic backpack out of recycled nylon material. The company also plans to give some profits from sales of the bag to a collaborative partnership created with UNESCO that will enable students to learn more about creating environmentally conscious fashions.
This is the second major change that Prada has made to its creation process this year. In March, the company announced it will discontinue the use of fur in its products by 2020,. In a statement made about that decision, head designer Miuccia Prada said it was part of Prada's continued commitment to "innovation and social responsibility."
