EW sits down with eight anonymous Academy members for their thoughts on the current Oscar race and why controversy doesn't sway their voting hand.
was just too bananas for me. Joe Pesci is perfectly Joe Pesci. My friends have been calling Al Pacino “Alice Pacino” because the more work these older men have to have, the more they look like women and it’s so distracting to watch. It’s like, Wanda Beatty and Alice Pacino. We have to give it to Anthony Hopkins for not doing any work on his face whatsoever. His performance is so grounded and unique. Beat to beat, I didn’t see a false moment and that’s hard to say [about others]..
: It’s a toss-up [between Anthony and Brad] but I’m going to go for Brad. I loved Sir Anthony’s performance, but it was[at his best]. He’s looking good, he carried the movie. I didn’t love the movie, but I liked it a lot. It’s entertaining and the kitsch of the ‘60s was fun. Brad came ready to play here. And he’s almost 60 years old but he looks amazing.
