NightCourt's John Larroquette approves of a change made to Dan Fielding in the revival show 👀 'The man is 75 years old, nobody wants to see that and I certainly don’t want to play that.' 😯

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Night Court season 1 episode 4, "Dan Vs. Dating."Night Court star John Larroquette explains why he's in favor of one major revival change. In the new version of the NBC comedy, Larroquette returns as Dan Fielding. In the premiere episode, he reluctantly accepts a job as a public defender after getting an offer from Abby Stone , the judge and daughter of the late Harry Stone from the original series.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Dan isn't quite the same ladies' man that he was in the original, and in an interview with Deadline, Larroquette talks about why the change was made. The multi-Emmy winner of Night Court says his character is older, with the script reflecting the way that Fielding has changed over the decades, and that the focus should be on the love lives of the younger characters.

The man is 75 years old, nobody wants to see that and I certainly don’t want to play that. So whatever we’ll do in the future about that will always be glancing blows to that sort of homage. We’ve got some young people in this cast who all the stories about the amorous nature of being young and falling in love and having relationships that work and don’t work should be left to the young people, not to the old guy.

Julianne turns out to be on the path of revenge, working her way through those that have wronged her. It's a list that apparently includes Dan, as he'd prosecuted her years ago. Dan is, understandably, taken aback by the revelation. He doesn't even remember her, but what's even more notable about the twist is the way it unravels and why.

Dan is clearly not the person that Julianne remembers. And, by extension, he's not the same person he was to audiences in the original Night Court. It'll be interesting to see how the revival continues to handle the shift going forward, as Dan has been clearly changed by his experiences.
