The film hits cinemas today
Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated thriller Oppenheimer hits cinemas today. The movie stars Peaky Blinders actor Cillian Murphy, Iron Man Robert Downey Jr and Emily Blunt, and tells the story of the creation of the atomic bomb dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagaski.
The VUE invited the Manchester Evening News to give us an inside look at the 70mm IMAX film tape and how the film gets projected onto the screen. VUE Cinema will be doing a mini-game to find out who has traveled the furthest to Manchester to watch the film with one person reportedly coming all the way from Dublin.
VUE cinemas said they will keep the 70mm IMAX film for the ‘potential future projects’. Quentin Tarantino’s next movie is expected to be shown in this format. "That’s why we’re thrilled to be screening the award-winning director’s latest film like it he intended it to be seen - on our 70mm IMAX screen at Vue Manchester Printworks.
“I’ve been so excited for this film, I’ve been waiting all year for it and it’s almost here now. To think that Manchester has only one of 30 theatres playing it in 70mm is unreal.
