The future of abortion as the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade [Opinion]
The Hindu religion teaches people continue to live after death. Souls live in the bodies of animals. To kill an animal is equivalent to killing a human being. I can respect their beliefs. Should the United States outlaw hamburgers to comply with the religious tenets that are held by that tiny portion of our population?
The people who wrote the anti-abortion opinions in your paper are free to follow their consciences and speak against abortion. They have a religious belief that a cell formed at conception is a complete human being. The thing that was unspoken was they want to use the full force of the government to push their religious beliefs onto the rest of us with laws that prohibit abortion. That happened during the Middle Ages and is common in Muslim countries that follow Sharia Law.
In addition, CO2 contributions to global warming will vastly increase, as well as water shortages. So, while I support a woman’s control over her own body, if anti-abortionists were to support tax increases to help ALL in need have a decent standard of living, I would bet abortion rates would go down significantly.
